About Spirit Airlines: Spirit Airlines began in 1980 as Charter One, a tour company established in Detroit that offered tourism packages of interesting destinations such as Atlantic City, Las Vegas and the Bahamas. Ten years later, Charter One began scheduled operations between Boston and Providence, Rhode Island to Atlantic City. On May 29, 1992, Charter One bought jet aircraft fleet, changed its name to Spirit Airlines and inaugurated service in the Detroit to Atlantic City route.

Spirit began its transition to a fleet of Airbus aircraft in the fall of 2004 and completed the transition in 2006 becoming an all-Airbus airline. Spirit has a fleet consisting of Airbus A319s, which allocates 144 passengers, and A321s that is able to seat 198 passengers. Spirit’s new fleet was designed with customers in mind and has all leather seats, moveable headrest, and extra large storage bins above the seats.

From the beginning as Charter One, as of today it is recognized as the leading low cost carrier to the Caribbean, Spirit Airlines is committed to offer the lowest fares with friendly and efficient service to its passengers.
