About Copa Airlines: Copa Airlines was founded in 1947 as the Aviation Panamanian Company. It began flying to three cities in Panama using DC-3/C47 Douglas aircraft. In 1966 already had three weekly flights to San José, Costa Rica was the first international destination. In 1969 joined an AVRO 748 aircraft to fly to the city of Kingston in Jamaica, Managua in Nicaragua and Barranquilla in Colombia. In the 1970s includes the cities of Medellin, Cartagena, San Salvador and Guatemala to its growing route network.
In 1992 it began its first flight connection within Latin America based in Panama, creating the “Hub of the Americas” at the Tocumen International Airport.
