About Continental Airlines: Continental Airlines is an American company based in Houston, Texas (USA) founded in 1934 by Walter T. Varney and his partner Louis Mueller. Originally, the company was known as Varney Speed Lines, “and the July 15, 1934 opened the first trade route between El Pueblo, Colorado, El Paso, Texas, with several stops in Las Vegas, Santa Fe and Albuquerque. The first long distance was opened in 1957, from Chicago to Los Angeles, and was known by the nickname “Gold Carpet Service.” In 1985, it launched the first direct flights to Europe, to London. Later, Paris, Frankfurt, Madrid and Munich were added to the network of Continental Airlines.

The company’s first plane was a single-engine Lockheed, nowadays, Continental Airlines has a fleet of 300 aircraft and operates in over 285 global destinations, with more than 3,000 daily flights. Continental continues to add new services and routes to its network of connections.
